Photo tagging coming across internet beyond Facebook

Submitted by admin on Monday, 3 May 20109 Comments

Facebook which has developed facial detection and recognition products for Facebook photos is aiming to spread habit of photo tagging across the web. Facebook now has developed an API to develop photo tagging capabilities on its own websites. Under it developers can have Face.com technology and they can apply photo tags over there for many a good number of reasons. Facebook users henceforth would able to tag images as they browse the web and personalize their experience on and every website.

Face.com has displayed three methods to show up how an API can be used over there. The Tagger Widget displays the tagging interface for website photos, highlighting how users can click faces to add names. Poster Yourself is an example of how the API can be used to plug faces into posters and CelebrityFindr’s mini site filters celebrity photos as showed up on Twitter. Face.com has already tagged more than 50 million users and its API may prove promising for users, developers and Facebook.
