Google’s Nexus plans shattered on Verizon and Vodaphone announcements
On a first hit Vodafone announced that it is the only sale point for a locked Nexus One phone in the U.K. and it bypassed the Web store that was too essential and was at the heart of Nexus One initiative. This interpret Google would have to adopt the same strategy which it initiated during its Nexus One launch event as a locked phone tied to an exclusive carrier as to sold out at a retail store.
More hurting to its plans back at home is where Google has backed off plans to sell a version of the Nexus One for Verizon’s network despite the 90 million customers, who would have access to Google’s phone that has been termed as a “superphone”. In order to make nexus to be embraced by in US widely it should have a version compatible with the most widely used networks in the U.S as run by a company that was a Key partner of Google six months back.
Google’s primarily aimed with the Nexus One to change the way the smartphone industry operates. However, contrary, it is operating through a traditional method to bring phone into the market. On the other side it is difficult for Google Android partners to think of the Nexus One as a competition as Google wanted to sell the phone from its web store. There are also other plans too that are putting check over Google’s plan like Samsung’s announcement to install Yahoo search on its Android phones and Motorola. Once again there occurs that Google needs to do a good amount of homework to restructure its nexus plan.
