Google procured visual-search company Plink
Google has not abated its activity of procuring other companies to increase its capital and technologies and this time under its spree of accruing and buying companies has come UK based visual search provider Plink. According to Plink co-founders Mark Cummins and James Philbin this deal has been ascribed as to be a very “exciting news” for a company that has gone public a few days back. Google was attracted towards the Plink due to its capacity to develop an Android application called PlinkArt that allow a user to have a snapshot of a painting and let it to be uploaded with details about the artwork and its artist. Further with the help of one’s smart phone that work can be shared among other art lovers and enthusiasts.
PlinkArt was quite a successful with other Android users too with Plink as it claimed more than 50,000 download of its application among users within just four weeks of the launch. Though even after acquisition Plink would be available yet there would entire development focus would on Google Googles, an Android application from Google that attempts to identify images and remain continuously underdevelopment and this time included employed teams from Plink to have further enhancement and modifications into the application in terms of new features and functionality. Other details of the acquisition like financial details, however, were not released as well. In the meantime, the Federal Trade Commission is about to make decision whether to allow them to buy out AdMob.
