Facebook merged Divvyshot in bid to Improve Facebook Photos
In a recent development Facebook has procured Divvyshot, a group photo sharing service that has just arrived out of private beta. Though terms and conditions as for the acquisition of company has yet not been declared out, however, it seem like as common to Facebook’s takeover of Octazen in February. It was merely a talent acquisition that occurred at that time and the website was closed down within six week’s time.
According to sources from Divvyshot Facebook is primarily interested in their technology especially that is related to event tagging in photos. It is suspected that two team members has been headed to Facebook where they will work upon tying Facebook photos to events so that all updated photos from the same event can be associated together through event tagging.
So now on Divvyshot would not support new user registrations and there are 40, 000 members to it. From now on they would have to download and migrate away their pictures on to some other location. And it is possible there migration would be provided to with other photo sharing services and prominently on Facebook with priority.
On the acquisition, Divvyshot in a clarification wrote to its users, “We know many of our users will have mixed feelings about this move. While this means Divvyshot as you know it will cease to exist, it’s important to realize that our unique approach to photos will live on. This is an opportunity to touch hundreds of millions of users with the best parts of our product. That’s something we hope you can get behind.”
