U.S. lawmakers asking FTC to look into Buzz privacy matter
A group of lawmakers cutting across party lines from U.S. Houses of Representatives has asked the Federal Trade Commission to look into the matter related to launch of Google Buzz that threatens to security and safety of consumer privacy. This it the second instance when privacy advocates are going against Buzz. Last month privacy advocates filed a class action complained last month in San Jose federal court.
Now once again six Democrats have joined hands with five Republicans from the Houses of Energy and Commerce Committee in petitioning the FTC to look over Google’s handling of the launch that exposed user’s private information to outsiders. At the previous time Google was quite prompt in responding as it make changes to the working pattern of Buzz as on first launch the most frequent e-mail list of contacts was made public default. As the process is quite long for having investigation into issue, it is possible that before FTC hade decide into the matter things may calm down.
