Facebook is revising privacy policy for location sharing, online
Last year Facebook faced a sort of protest from its user over privacy issue and its user went up to the extent of complaining the issue with federal regulators and therefore Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg had to apologized publicly. This time Facebook is taking all the cautions before forcing any changes with respect of location tagging and third party Websites before they take any effect on them.
According to Michael Richter, Facebook’s deputy general counsel told that changes let Facebook to collect location information and permit sharing general information about users to be termed as “pre-approved” with Web sites using Facebook Platform. The tweaks will “make way for some exciting new products we’re contemplating,” Richter said. “Not all of these products have been finalized and many aren’t yet built at all.” Facebook users have told to register any comment that they worth sharing till 30th April.
There is still cloud over what actually Facebook wants to achieve through these changes on sharing of data and information. One set of people on new privacy policy of Facebook are opinionated that new system would tag Facebook friends by “place,” not just by name in photos or videos. Another change purposed by Facebook is about, “pre-approved third party Web sites and applications” that employ Facebook platform to receive general information about a person involving photo, friend list and public information from the account as long as a person is logged into Facebook account. According to revised policy, “you and your friend can be connected on that Web site as well” as long as both of you have an account on the particular Web site.
