Facebook has invited developers to create ‘iconic games’

Heading over its largest social network, Facebook is ready to capitalize over its 400 million users and has invited to game developers to develop an iconic social game of the magnitude of Mario or Halo for Facebook. According to a research, one forth of the Facebook’s 400 million users plays social games on the site. Facebook put this proposal on the opening day of the Game Developers Conference.

If it is looked at different game platforms than every game platform has one such iconic game whether it is a Sonic or Mario or Halo. At the Game Developers Conference, there was a discussion about the iconic game. And Farmville emerges as an iconic game that is played by 31 million people daily and regularly. Farmville tool nearly five weeks to develop and has 80 million monthly users.

The thought emerged at conference about game is that it should appeal to everyone across the board and should include social emotions and have feelings be felt by a player for the first time. Though social games, which are played among friends and family is a relative new industry and have attracted million of users that do not consider them to be a gamer. A social game has grown into the industry of $1bn from nothing as assumed three years ago.
