Design
According to the claims mad by Nokia, E55 is the world’s thinnest smartphone. It measures to 4.57 inches long by 1.93 inches wide by 0.39 inch thick and its weight is 3.46 ounce. Its back battery cover is made of spun metal surface for providing better grip for holding it up.
Its non touch screen display is of 2.4 inches and supports 16 million colors. It is indeed very colorful, vibrant and has very capable light sensing technology, which adjusts according to the surrounding environment. The phone can switch between Personal and Business mode. In business mode, it provides access to work with tools like e-mail and calendar. However, in Personal mode one can have access to multimedia applications and like wise. It has a hybrid keyboard as similar to RIM’s SureType keyboard.
Below display is located navigation array consisting of two soft keys, a middle square toggle with a center select key, shortcut keys for Home, the Calendar, and Email, a Back key, and the Talk and End keys. Beneath it is a hybrid QWERTY keyboard. As far as accessories are concerned Nokia E55 comes along with AC adapter, a wired headset, a USB cable and a 2.5mm headset adapter and reference material.
Features
The Nokia E55 is attached with the Symbian S60 Third Edition operating system and has features like Nokia E71 and the E63. It creates a good business smart phone and support Microsoft Exchange Server, POP3, and IMAP4 e-mail accounts. The E55 also supports instant messaging as comes with Microsoft’s Windows Live Messenger, but you can download other IM clients as well.
It has all features of modern phone like speakerphone, speed dial, voice commands and text and multimedia messaging. It is equipped with conference call support, quad band GSM for world roaming and VoIP support. It works on AT&T’s 3G bands, but not T-Mobile’s. E55 also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, with support for stereo A2DP streaming, dial-up networking, and file transfer.
In multimedia it has built-in music player which supports MP3, WMA, W4A, AAC, AAC+, and eAAC+ file formats, plus OMA DRM 2.0 and WM DRM-protected songs. The player can set tune by albums, genres, artists, and composers. Similar to E71, E55 has a 3.2 mega pixel camera. Along with LED flash it has camera features like auto focus, exposure settings, digital zoom, several scene modes, white balance presets, and color effects.
Performance
The sound quality of Nokia E55 using an AT&T SIM card seemed to very nice and attractive and Volume too appeared to be soothing. On 3G speed E55 is very good. Its built-in Web browser supports Flash Lite 3.0 It is even smooth while switching from applications to applications. The Nokia E55 has a balanced battery life of 8 hours in GSM mode and 6 hours in 3G. it has 23 days of standby time in GSM mode and 29 days in 3G.
