Cisco’s has come up with improved CRS-3 Router
This new router provides the 12 times better traffic than the old generation routers and is three times faster than the older CRS-1 that was introduced in 2004. It can handle traffic upto 322 terabits per second. The new router that starts with the price tag of $90,000 would be provided to the world’s largest Internet service providers. This router is for the ISP service providers like AT&T, Verizon Communications, Level3, and Sprint that are known for their Internet traffic carrying capacity and termed as “the Internet backbone”
For a common broadband consumer this change of Router is benefit of upgraded infrastructure. CRS-3 will increases capacity for internet service providers so that new applications like video based application, high definition TV, video conferencing and 3D TV can work efficiently through it. According to Cisco CEO John Chambers this new router would work as next generation internet that will have massive growth due to videos.
In the Market many other service providers already are giving services upto the level of 50Mbps and 100Mbps broadband services to consumers. Google too have announced about starting up an ultra high speed broadband network to test news services and applications using 1 Gigabit per second speeds. The scale and speed of new CRS-3 is impressive and takes Internet to the next level of capacity. Meanwhile people are in waiting for next product from Cisco.
