With its one inning already on the net, Google is testing the ground for its second innings on television through a television based program in conjunction with Dish Network as reported by The Wall Street Journal. The service according to the reported news is in a very limited testing phase operates over a very special set-top box and looks for the content from both the Dish programming guide as well as web video service like YouTube (You Tube).

However, the interesting revelation has occurred through the The Wall Street Journal’s report is about the technology used in setup box instead of service, itself. Some code of Google’s Android has been used in this particular set up box, as Android is used with tablets and netbooks, a move to the embedded device will require big space for Android.

As this Google experiment even can take shape for better as consumer electronics is shifting its attention toward connectivity and with 15 years of extensive research, this thing is moving with a rapid face and speed. Mostly, embedded devices use either custom built kernel or modified version of BusyBox however, for Google there could be a theoretically frame work that would be free and rich in value for device makers, while offering opportunities that can have an impact over Google’s core business.

However, this is not the first time, Google is appearing for the first time on Television, way back in 2008, Google AdWords started Google TV Ads as place for companies to buy airtime into the various markets. Though, the program was not that much successful, hopefully Google may be lucky this time.
