Apple patent case can have far reaching implications for android phones’
In a law suit filed by Apple against HTC, that is first manufacturer to use Android phone as it may further create complications against for all phone manufacturers who are using Google’s Android operating system. In the case against HTC, Apple has alleged infringement of 20 of its patent.
As in the case there is no mention of Google as such, yet there number of patents as mentioned by Apple relates to operating system processes. However, google has come into for the support of HTC and is backing every partner who helped in developing Android including HTC.
HTC is one of the pioneering manufacturers that used Android in their phone and Android is also used with Google’s own brand Nexus One handset. According to some smart phone experts Google Apple by filing suit against HTC ha indirectly tried to frame Google indirectly.
“Some of the patents that Apple alleges have been infringed are 15 years old and cover aspects of operating systems. As a result, some believe that the patents cannot just relate to HTC and believe the case may just be an opening salvo against other firms and possibly Google” as reported in a famous media site. In a statement Apple boss Steve Jobs said: “We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it.”We’ve decided to do something about it.”
Contrary, Finnish phone giant Nokia sued Apple for patent infringement in October 2009, charging it for stealing patented technology. Apple is also being inquired by the ITC after a complaint by camera manufacturer Kodak. Kodak alleged that iPhone uses its technology for photo preview in iPhone.
