Microsoft launched its new Windows Phone 7 series at MWC
In an event at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Microsoft launched the latest version of its mobile operating system, called Windows Phone 7 series. The new mobile operating system has new user interface and incorporation of Microsoft services like Xbox LIVE games and the Zune music service.
Windows Mobile 7 series hopefully would increase market share for Microsoft that has reach upto 9% in mobile software sector. This way it is placed at fourth positions, after Symbian, Rim that are maker of Blackberry, and Apple’s iPhone OS. This launch is succession to Windows Mobile 6.5 October 2009. The new mobile operating system has all the three important features of modern mobile world like –search, social and location.
This operating system is predicated as a breather for Microsoft mobile operating systems which were losing out their markets due to under performance of widows mobile 6 and 6.5. As over 30 months Apple has grabbed the 15% of the smart phone marker thus it became imminent for Microsoft to launch a new product or services in Mobile Operating Systems Sector. Microsoft’s new operating system is constructed around series named as live tiles that pulls real time content from a user’s web sites and social networks.
With new interface called ‘live tiles’ a user can create latest posts and pictures from friends or relatives in social networks. The interface has also series of “hubs” that can collate content from web, applications and services into a single view. These six hubs are people, pictures, games, marketplace, music and office. The first series of mobile devices enable with new operating system would be available on manufactures sets like Samsung, LG. HTC and Sony Ericsson later by this year.
