Test site in different resolutions with Firefox add-ons

Deciding upon one of the screen resolutions for your website is one of the difficult decisions when designing a website. The earlier screen resolution happens to be 800 x 600, however with improved in computing technology this resolution presently is set at 1024 x 768. Now as monitors are larger than their previous sizes there many screen resolutions are in the trend. Therefore, it becomes the task of a designer to decided upon what a site would like on the most common and popular resolutions.

On Firefox, there are provided many add-ons that can help in testing the resolution of a website in an easy manner. Below are provided the three most common Firefox add-ons that would make testing of a website easier in different resolutions.

FireSizer: The first add-on is Firesizer. For using it one need to look at the bottom bar where current window sizes are indicated. In order to change the size of browser window it is required to right click the correct size indicator. On FireSizer one can click on three common sizes to select from. There you can either add customized size by clicking “Customize” or can click on “Save Current Size” in order to save the current size of the browser window to add it to the list of sizes.

ResizeIT: This is the second Firefox add-on. It brings keyboard shortcuts to resize the browser window. There are four different shortcuts for various resolutions as it makes process even easier. The shortcuts for resizing windows are ALT-1, ALT-2, ALT-3 and ALT-4. On Firefox task can be accomplished by going to the TOOLS menu, selecting Add-ons, and clicking the options button next to the ResizeIT label.

Yet Another Window Resizer: This resize add-on is for mouse users, as right click on anywhere on the page will come out with “Resize Window” option showing bottom of the menu with various sizes. And there you can resize window using given sizes or can also set custom sizes too.
