Gmail got into trouble in Iran ahead of Islamic Revolution’s Anniversary
Whether it is deliberate or sudden disturbances that are bothering Google operations around the Globe. After Chinese cyber attack news it is the constant drop of e-mail traffic in Iran that is perturbing policy makers at Mountain View, Googles headquarter. It is appearing that in view of Islamic Revolution’s Anniversary, restriction has been imposed over Gmail traffic in Iran. However, as reported from Google, there networks are working properly in Iran.
As many opposition websites have urged people to demonstrate on Iran’s most important political calendar. And from Iran’s police chief some some activist has already been arrested as a matter of caution. According to the official statement from Google, they are closely monitoring activities of the sedition movement and many people have been arrested over there.
As more sanctions are leading ahead for Iran, according to Wall Street Journal, Iran’s telecommunications agency has announced the permanent suspension of Google Inc’s email services as in response to Wednesday extended sanction against Tehran. The 31st anniversary of the revolution could have protest as opposition in Iran charged last June’s re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as a rigged activity. Opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi have led support to the rally.
In Iran anti establishment websites have pleaded to their supporter to attend the rally and be prepared for confrontation. However, police Chief Esmail Ahmadi Moghaddam told that the Revolutionary Guards and Basij Islamic militia were ready for any trouble. The sanctions on Iran are coming as result of its decision to further enrich uranium for its nuclear programme.
