Torrent sites troubling twitter
In a twitter related controversies, the latest edition is a scheme which uses compromised, file sharing sites that steals the log on information of users. Twitter, specially is referred to the websites that are “torrent” and are set up for skimming usernames and passwords. The torrent site works as indexes of links to TV, film and music files and scammers get access to the usernames and passwords due to the habit of people using same user name and pass words for multiple numbers of websites. However, twitter has reset the account of the affected users.
After this, Twitter has recommended in a blog post with great emphasis on using variable e-mail addresses and passwords on different websites. Trus teer, an online security firm suggested that 73% of people share passwords of their online banking with at least one non financial website. Twitter told that it caught up the scam after witnessing some unusual activities on the website. After the some research, the fact came to surface that there was certain network of compromised torrent sites that were published only with the aim to steal logon information. According to security firm Sophos that spam and attacks on social networks like Twitter and Facebook has rose up by 70% during previous year and FaceBook was termed as the riskiest net work.
