LinkedIn Opening up for API, news in Air
As there are ample talks about LinkedIn, launching its own IPO, it is on the way to open up its technology for other developers to add more innovation to already existing technology prevailing with LinkedIn. It has recently launched two-way integration with Twitter and also rolled out a plugin to pull in LinkedIn contacts within Microsoft Outlook. And another move took by LinkedIn is letting other developers to make application which can suitable can be fit into LinkedIn’s social network.
LinkedIn has launched 11 different APIs divided into three different categories, first category let a user to access his information, profiles, connections and messages through oAuth login. The another functionality is to provide user with ability to make actionable decisions in context to LinkedIn contacts, post updates and more and the third and final criteria is related to search into applications. The search engine of LinkedIn was started previous year and has fetched more than one billon queries in a year. LinkedIn went into partnership deal for integrating technology with companies like IBM, Microsoft, Research In Motion and Twitter.
It has also tested the API with many developers and applications. Twitter, MySpace and Facebook client TweetDeck would be integrated with LinkedIn in its next version. Posterous, Box.net and Ribbit are also about to launch LinkedIn integrations in the near future as well. These developments would definitely add to the cause of 50 million users strong LinkedIn to become stronger with its services and features.
