The Wikimedia Foundation, that started Wikipedia, released its first official iPhone application for Wikipedia, named as Wikipedia Mobile that is available at iPhone App store for free. This application will allow users to have access to iPhone formatted Wikipedia articles. However, after looking into the various features of the website, many experts have termed it merely as a cover for mobile Wikipedia site.

Apart from this, there are also many other Wikipedia applications including Taptu’s Wapedia, Wikiamo and Wikipanion. This official version of Wikipedia application lacks into a number of features like with ability to easily browse tables of content for apps including in page searching capabilities to save posts for offline reading. The only best feature with this application is to track down browsing history. In first attempt Wikipedia Mobile launched this site as an open source application.
