Optimism, emerging in online music community
A worried music industry world over has some reasons to smile upon. In a recent research conducted by media agencies, The Leading Question and a digital music consultancy Music Ally, have arrived to the conclusion that unauthorized music downloading amongst youth has decline and CD (Compact Disk) has emerged as the most popular medium of music to be listened by youth.
In a conducted survey, it was found that 73% of respondents preferred CDs to download and percentage among teenagers was 66%. However, the percentage of fans sharing file has gone as below as 22%. This research is positive in a manner that, it has shown that consumer’s who are not buying CDs are now changing; trend is changing from downloading illegally to streaming legally. Though they are not paying for online music yet have converted to the reasonable mean for downloading music.
As new media is coming up massively, it is expected that in coming time it is the advertising and game that would pay for all free music. On the other side Helienne Lindvall, a Swedish songwriter and music blogger, blasted against Pirate Bay, YouTube and last.fm for not awarding artist despite making profit from it. The progress is still on in certain areas to provide a singer with benefit with its due credit.
