Submitted by admin on Wednesday, 22 July 2009No Comment

In an interesting development, Australian police has come up to protect personal/home Wifi networks of its citizen from opportunistic WiFi hijackers who are freely roaming around in cities looking for unsecured networks. The least harm they can do by piggybacking off the internet connection of unaware subscribers and at the serious side there is risk of serious issues like identity theft.

To prohibit this trend, Queensland, Australia Police is teaching citizens to fight against cyber crimes. Apart from teaching citizens, police is running “warddriving” missions to search for open and unprotected wireless networks so could inform people about potential risk from them.  WiFi exploiters have criminal interests to an extent that they are sharing information on satellite maps showing vulnerable areas with huge numbers of unsecured networks”

According to sources from Queensland Police this drive in itself is unique in entire world.  The efforts of the police are really appreciable and there never be misuse of any cyber information.
