Microsoft to Start Music Streaming Service by This Month
According to news report from The Telegraph, Microsoft is starting a music streaming service at the end of this month. According to Peter Bale, executive producer of MSN, “it will be a similar principle to Spotify but we are still examining how the business model will work”. Spotify provides packaged ad supported free streaming, 24 hour passes for premium account holders ad-free music streaming for 9.99 euors a month.
Same type of services is provided by Last.FM with free streaming-based online radio. Outside US, UK and Germany after free trail Last.FM provide this service on €3.00 per month. Microsoft can provide streaming from any platform including Zune and the Xbox that are very good methods for listening music. Tie with platform, partners and pricing are still to be revealed by Microsoft. However, concluding the talk Bale promises for scale and quality of product.
