On July 7 Sony Corporation made official announcement of entering into the Netbook market. Their first Sony Vaio W netbook would be launched in month of August 2009.

After the two years of inhibition when Netbook market was developing Sony finally shed its skepticism.

Sony Vaio W netbook is with 10 inch screen and resolution of 1,366 by 768 pixels. Compatible with Microsoft Windows XP operating system it has a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 processor and 1 GB RAM. The dimensions are 27 cm by 18cm by 2.7cm. Net book also has built in camera and a memory reader too. Sony Vaio W will be released in the markets in France, U.K, Germany, Russia, Italy and Spain in August 2009, whereas details for North American launch has not been revealed by the company. However, price tag for the American market has been kept around $629 which keeps Sony Vaio W netbook somewhere between Netbook and Notebook computer.
