How Social Media Sites Can Help Authorities
20-year-old Erika Scoliere of Campton Hills, who was charged for DUI (Driving Under Influence) and crashing a motorcyclist while driving in 2007. She was, however, at the time of accident was even below permissible age of drink under American laws. She was sentenced by a judge neither to consume alcohol nor roam along people who drink. She was completely prohibited from partying or visiting bars.
But she was again surrounded with authorities as police found recent photos of her on Facebook drinking with college buddies in Ohio, where she studies at school. Judge Thomas Mueller ordered Scoliere this time to wear an ankle monitoring device which can detect alcohol via perspiration and alert authorities in case she violates bail plea. She further would have to pay county $15 per day as charges. Though it is bad Scoliere was once again violated law but it is also a good example social media sites can help authorities tab down anti social elements.
