Submitted by admin on Tuesday, 9 June 2009One Comment

Introduction

The Avast 4 Professional Edition is a comprehensive package of anti-root kit software for home and corporate users. It is an ICSA cum Check mark certified anti virus that features a couple of user-friendly interfaces, on demand scanner, Web shield, support to 32 languages, auto-update and lots more.

Looking at what the latest version has got to offer, an enhanced setup experience, and improvised malware and rootkit scanners are noticeable in the latest 4.8.1335.90414 version of the software.

Features:

  • On-demand scanner with two user interfaces
  • skinnable simple interface
  • Outlook like UI allows for set-up
  • On-access scanner
  • Network Traffic: lightweight firewall
  • Instant Messaging: ICQ/Miranda
  • P2P protection for Kazaa
  • Script blocker
  • Available in 32 languages
  • BitTorrent
  • Web shield for all the HTTP traffic

Review:

The Avast malware and virus protection rootkit package is definitely one of the superior anti-virus programs available in the market, though it slows down the system to a good extent as well.

As soon as you’re done with the process of installation, you’ll be given the choice to schedule a scan, and 2 icons will appear simultaneously in your PC’s item tray. One of these will help you active the virus recovery database, while the other is meant for configuring the functions.

The performance is pretty good, as the package takes care of all the tasks such as scanning inbound and outbound e-mails, executables, and P2P programs like Limewire, Morpheus and Kazaa.

What’s more, the Avast pro also keeps track of possibilities of malware entering your system via instant messages sch as ICQ and the likes of them. It can even block specific URLs and deleting/renaming of the existing files on the system without prior permission.

The sensitivity can be adjusted to obtain desired protection level, which can be defaulted to high, normal or further customized by setting the other detais.

Basically, the Avast 4 pro is an extremely resourceful package, and it has just become even better in the 4.8.1335.90414 version, as the ease of set-up has been further increased. Furthermore, the performance of the malware and rootkit scanners seems to be increased considerable.

The professional version is a premium package, though you can test the working of the package by downloading a 60-day trial version without even spending a single penny.
