How to install Windows 7?

Submitted by admin on Friday, 5 June 2009No Comment

There is lot to the windows 7 installing on your computer. And above all, it is absolutely not free and its Windows Release edition (Window RC) is for use until June 1, 2010. As after March 1, 2010 it will shut down after every 2 hours. Therefore you would need to install Windows 7 and downgrade back to Vista or XP.

Now when you have finally decided to install windows 7 on your computer, it needs to take many a number of steps into consideration. Before installation, you need to clear up all the existing stuff from hard drive and needs to take backups for the system again and again. Apart from taking backup other important advice here is to get important consideration for following applications:

Working on Firefox browser, it is needed bookmarks to be exported and to keep resulted copy at a safer place. And any further add-ins is needed to be installed.

Copying of Program files Trillian and everything covered by it.

For iTunes carefully use Apple instructions for having a valid copy of your music and database files. Also deauthorise from your computer for iTunes from Windows to Mac.

For Reinstalling Office 2003 and the Office 2007 tool keeps in mind to take notes and keep .pst files at safer location somewhere else.

For Digsby it is quite easy and needs reinstalling and set up. It also comes up with a bad habit of installing things that you hardly need to install.

And for Logins it is good if you have installed any application otherwise you can back them up. There are also great password managers like KeePass, LockCrypt and MashedLife.

Do also take care of multiple partitions on the hard drive and take damn good care of drive mapping so you can recreate them later on.  Do also take care of your hardware specifications like Video cards, CPUs, network cards, monitors, printers, wireless mice and keyboards.

Now all things are well set, it is time to get the actual work done, even with copy of Windows 7RC you need product key to get your work done by. Now download Windows, and burn the .iso to a DVD while Windows Vista is running. For actual installation shutdown Windows XP or Vista and boot from the DVD.  During booting on most of the systems, there come messages indicating when to press keys to change the boot device. The PC will display a ‘Press any key to boot from DVD…’ message.

Best to follow that advice. Welcome aboard. Select an appropriate language and location. Accept the terms and choose the Custom install.   Now select the partition that you wish install into.  Normally that’s the one that just had Vista or XP on it, and is marked System.  To keep process smooth select Advance and delete the existing partition.    Make a new partition into the empty space as sometimes Windows 7 creates an additional system partition as well.  Now Files will be copied, expanded and installed, Restarts will happen. Choose a user name and password. Provide Timezone and your Location.
