8 Online free FTP clients for Mac Users

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is the popular protocol which extensively is used by website builders and word press bloggers to transfer files between computers and web servers. In order to use an FTP protocol there an FTP client is employed which is used in two varieties, computer based FTP and web-based FTP.

Following are some of the popular web based clients for Macintosh environment used by developers and website owners.

Classic FTP: This is a classic FTP client, primarily used on Mac OSX and Windows. It has a unique “Mirror and Upload” tool  that scans for any file not presented at remote folder at computer location and upload that file automatically from local folder to remote folder.  This also lets synchronize navigation of local as well as remote folder.

Cross FTP: Written in Java, it has a two-pane browser like user interface that is very easy to learn and use. It also has multiple tabs to manage multiple FTP sites in a single window.

FileZilla: This is well known Windows-based FTP client also available in Mac version too. Mac Version is bit difficult to use in comparison to windows version. FileZilla is also available for Linux too.

Cyberduck: It is one of the best FTP clients for Mac and is available in many languages.

OneButton FTP: With a graphical interface this FTP client for Mac OS X has features like drag and drop usability, and files queuing for the sake of simplicity.

MacFusion: It is an open source Mac application allowing working with files on servers across the internet. Macfusion has a volume in Finder and works with SSH/SFTP and FTP servers.

Übertragen: This is a dashboard widget to transfer files either on a FTP server, Mac running Ubertragen, local network (through Bonjour) or to one of the Bluetooth devices.

Fire Widget:  This is a drag-and-drop FTP upload widget with a simpler interface and easy step uploading like dropping a file and sliding it up on server.
