Scribd Store, a place for publishers to sale their work online
In order to bring some originality in terms of content wide spread over internet, online document sharing store Scribd has launched Scribd store, where a publisher can keep his original written work for sale. This step from Scribd is being seen as its effort to clean itself out of mess. It is alleged for being its name in report for ebook piracy as well as publishers like Lonely Planet, O’Reilly Media, Berrett-Koehler and others, which partnered with Scribd for the Store launch.
The rate for the story lies from $1 to $5, 000 out of which 20% it keeps for itself as revenue and remaining 80% go for a publisher. At pricing, a publisher can select from a wider options like price of individual chapters, exact selections of pages, or one dollar per chapter you can quote over there. And for reader’s convenience Scribd has provided with multi-platform like Kindle, iPhone and other gadgets.
One serious thought to this issue is DRM Scribd Store, whether a publisher selects between their digital rights by adding DRM to PDF of ePub documents or let them to be viewable only on Scribd. Often on ebooks, pirated material looks a like original, therefore, to avoid any complacency most of the publishers favor for DRM on their works. To a publisher’s safety, there is a Scribd’s existing Copyright Management System (CMS) that add a document automatically to it, when a document is added to the store and this method ensures a publisher that pirated version of his work would soon be removed from the free sharing part of the site.
