8 tips – I don’t want to get bored on long journeys

If you’re one of those people that endlessly travel or you are about to start an adventure that will demand many hours of travel, then you should take some precautions before leaving. The main thing to do is to set up your own anti-boredom kit, so that you can arrive at your destination with a smile.
Please keep in mind that what you take should be rather small, easily portable and not too noisy (out of respect for the other passengers). Above all, make sure that it is something that gives you pleasure and will keep you entertained.
Possible options for an anti-boredom kit are:
Reading:
Reading, of course, is always a good option for travel. Make sure you choose one or two books. Keeping in mind the length of the trip and how many pages you can typically read in a certain amount of time. Do not choose a theme that does not interest you or an author that you have never read before. You go to trusted friends that can give their opinion on books that they liked, as well as books that may interest you. The worst thing that can happen is that one of the books that you brought is boring or does not hold your interest. So make sure you select the books well. They are lighter, they don’t add extra weight to your baggage and they can provide a good assortment of various topics.
Listening music:
Modern MP3 players are an excellent travel companion. They occupy very little space and can store large amounts of music. Some models can also display videos, photos and even electronic books. In addition, the music can be a complement to any other activity you participate in during the trip and they can even be a helpful tool in case you need to isolate yourself. If you plan to bring an mp3 player, make sure you bring your own pair of headphones to use as most airliners don’t have any to loan out.
Electronic games:
Electronic devices, or even phones that enable you to play your favorite video game, are a great item to bring on a long trip. There are a variety of games available on the market that you can download and install on your device before you leave.
Games of skill:
Puzzles, sudokus, or other games of skill can be a great item to bring on your trip as they help to pass the time. If you choose this option though, be sure to also bring a couple of pencils and erasers with you.
Playing Cards:
If you are traveling in a group, then a great idea is to bring a deck of playing cards, or even if you are alone, you can always have fun playing solo games such as solitaire. With this option you can also include fellow travelers and invite them to play with you.
Small table games:
Another idea for people who travel in groups or have no trouble getting along with fellow passengers is small table games. There are a variety of mini chess boards, checkers or backgammon table games to choose from and you can find them at most stores.
Maps and Guides:
Long trips are a good time to go over itineraries, information on places to visit, and to plan additional trips. Do not make the mistake of leaving the materials in your checked baggage, or you will regret having done so when you look for something to do during the trip. Accessories:
Anti-boredom kits are not complete without some items that will enable you to make the most out of your experience. Seek a small reading lamp (you can get it here). These are not just for reading, but for any of the activities you may want to do. In addition, you can never be sure in advance that the lighting will be good and at the same time, make sure you can see at night when others are sleeping. Also, do not forget to include extra batteries, as well as a small note pad and items to write with. You can also take a small inflatable pillow (you can get it here) so that when you sleep you can sleep in comfort.
