Twitter soon to launch Indexing Links for search as Google

Twitter Search is simply the most capable feature of Twitter. Users talk about routine updates, or linking with companies, or just follow celebrities; but that’s all small scale. While the actual supremacy of Twitter lies in its summative data. The data is the reason why Google and every alternate company out there are fascinated to them. It’s all about the data. And Twitter is well aware of this fact and in fact on the edge of some exciting moves with Twitter Search that will better highlight that.

Santosh Jayaram’s (Twitter’s new VP of Operations) words on a panel today, had some very remarkable things to say, Webware’s Rafe Needleman who temperate it, informs-. The most interesting thing is that Twitter Search will soon begin crawling the links that people tweet out and indexing them. This immediately takes Twitter Search, which is still a very basic service, to the next level. This means that no longer will it just be a stream of textual tweets, but it will include millions of web pages as well — web pages that are more or less already curated by the individuals who tweet them out. Sure, there will be some spam, maybe even a lot of it, but this user curation should help real good content from around the web bubble up.

They say that, Twitter Search will index the substance of these pages on top. Exactly what Google does? Yes! Fact that Jayaram previously worked on the search quality team for Google explains the rest.

Certainly Twitter Search will not index several pages as Google, but that’s not the issuet. Twitter Search isn’t intended to substitute Google which would be insensible. At present, no one is going to beat Google at its own game. Twitter Search is inevitable to be a special kind of potent search engine in its own right.

Twitter is also probing at ways to enhance tailor search results. As earlier pointed out, as yet the results are a very indispensable collection of tweets with key terms. Jayaram declares that the company desires to add some sort of reputation filtering to propose better results. Previous to each one gets in a panic about the word “reputation” just like when Loic Le Meur brought up the thought of filtering Twitter Search by “authority,” Jayaram says Twitter’s engineers are still determining the finest way to evaluate this reputation. That appears to specify that it wouldn’t be anything ridiculous like just being based on the number of followers you have.

We expect effects should be getting more attention-grabbing in this space over the next some months. But for, certainly, Google buys Twitter first…
