Twitter Founder explained, “No. We are not for Sale.”
The rumors of twitter’s purchase by a big company like Apple, Google and Microsoft was neglected by Twitter co-founders Biz Stone and Evan Williams during media appearances as part of media campaign on ABC’s “The View” and popular talk shows Oprah and the Colbert Report. Stone responded to a question posed by Barbara Walters about the sale of Twitter rhetorically, “No. We are not for sale.”
At the same time when Stone and Williams were busy in media with Twitter’s Vice President of Operations Santosh Jayaram was busy explaining about the future of Twitter’s search engine on CNET. He told that twitter is coming in rather big way by indexing Twitter posts as not to compete with any big search engine but to provide faster access of real-time information to it is users. He further stated that twitter is going to form a ‘reputation ranking system’ for its search engine in order to provide its users more credible information. Initially, on twitter when you are about to search for a “trending topic” the list for most of the 10 popular topics results on the Twitter’s right side bar. However twitter’s engineer’s still are working upon strategy to determine Twitter’s users reputation.
Links posted on twitter is creating real attention for search capabilities of the Twitter searching. Twitter Search lets a user to find information in real quick time. The effectiveness of twitter accounts was seen during last year’s terror attacks in Mumbai. People trapped during the attack reported their well being on twitter. And twitter was far quicker in spreading news about attack than the traditional media. Stone even went ahead claming twitter different from Facebook or Myspace by telling it “information network” than a social media site.
