Net Book Small Portable Computer for Bigger Usages

Net book that is small portable laptop computer precisely for use in wireless communication and Internet have left behind note books in United States in year 2008 in terms of sales. There are many reasons for this enormous success of netbooks and above all are the features and usability provided in NetBook. Netbook contrary to Notebooks are made primarily for remote accessing of Web Based Applications, web browsing and e-mailing.

Available in size from 5” to 13” and price range of $400 and even to the extent of $50 Netbook are operable under either Windows XP or Linux operating Systems. According to Deloitte, netbook is defined as “a notebook computer with a low-powered x86-compatible processor (compatible with PC standard software), small screen (no larger than 10 inches), (usually) small keyboard, equipped with wireless connectivity, lightweight (under three pounds/1.3 kilograms) and no optical disk drive.”

The credit of Net Book goes to Psion’s discontinued netBook line, the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project. Net books started coming up in the market in year 2007. Many models like   ASUS Eee PC, CloudBook, Wind, Inspiron Mini and HP Mini were launched by branded companies for emerging markets.

If, there is looked into the internal structure of the netbooks, it is found that they have forego hard and optical disc drives, instead of heavy hard disk as used in regular notebooks. Software are downloaded or read from a storage device without optical drive. Netbooks are supported with Wi-Fi wireless networking and are extensively used on mobile networks with data capability. Processors of the netbooks are equipped with ARM architecture, in certain level are incompatible with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.

In software, it is the Microsoft’s Windows XP has dominance over 90% of netbook market. Other software packages which are used with net book are Linux, Google’s Android software platform, Mac OS X. The craze that has developed for Netbooks after looking its usability and price range is not a fluke instead is what it deserves.
